This one's for the children. The children of the world. I believe the children are our future. Except for those Children of the Corn. They'll be the death of us, if we're not careful. Leroy the Lemur There once was a lemur named Leroy Clippetyclop Lollipop. But most people just called him Leroy the Lemur. Leroy was a very special lemur. He was very good at digging holes, carrying apples, and editing reels of 8MM video tape. Not every lemur was able to carry apples like Leroy. One day Bert the Bumblebee asked Leroy to carry an apple to the tulip patch beside the creek. "I was wanting to give this apple to my home economics teacher. Will you help me, Leroy the Lemur?" asked Bert. "I most certainly will," replied Leroy. "Will you stay here and watch this reel of video tape? I'm editing this wedding video for Wesley the Whippoorwill." Bert happily agreed to watch the reel for him. So Leroy picked up the apple and began walking toward the tulip patch. He carried it between the dogwood trees, past the elderberry bushes, and beyond the International House of Pancakes. Leroy could smell the blueberry pancakes inside, and remembered how hungry he was. "I wish I had a stack of delicious pancakes," thought Leroy. "But I should take this apple to the tulip patch first." So Leroy walked past the IHOP toward the tulips. As Leroy came to the tulip patch, he saw Marsha the Marmot teaching her home economics class. She was showing her students how to iron a sweater. Leroy said, "Hello Marsha. Bert the Bumblebee asked me to bring this apple to you." Leroy then set the apple beside the creek for her. "Now I am going to get some pancakes, because carrying apples makes me very hungry." Marsha was delighted. "Thank you Leroy. This is a very nice apple. I am glad Bert asked you to bring it to me." So Leroy went back to the International House of Pancakes, where he saw Bert eating a waffle with a spoon. Bert invited Leroy to eat with him, so he did. "Thank you for taking my apple to Marsha. Would you like to have a waffle?" Bert asked. "No thank you," replied Leroy. "I am going to eat a blueberry pancake." So Leroy the Lemur ordered a blueberry pancake. He and Bert had a wonderful time talking about mutual funds, working a crossword puzzle, and eating waffles and pancakes with spoons. After they finished their meals, Leroy and Bert decided to spend the rest of the day taking a tour of the wax museum. They became very good friends. The End |
